This is probably the first iPhone/iPod touch game that I really got hooked on. I had heard about it and then I was sitting next to someone playing it on the plane. So as soon as I landed I downloaded it. Boy was that a mistake. Productivity went down the tubes for that entire trip :)

The premise behind FlightControl is that you're the air traffic controller and it's your job to guide planes in safely. It starts out (like most games) pretty easy. A plane appears on the display and you simply use your finger to direct it to the appropriate runway. Easy right?

Flight Control

Well it is easy, but after a while more and more planes start coming in and some fly faster than others. So you can put the big jet behind the smaller one or it will run into it. Also once a plane is in play (on the screen) there is no way to direct it back off screen. You can have it circle if you want, but if you keep it too close to the edge another incoming plane is bound to hit it :)

More

Although you can simply play against the computer, you can also bring in other users and play wirelessly over WiFi or Bluetooth. You have your choice between 4 airports (this will keep you from getting bored) and there are 10 different aircraft all with their own characteristics and speeds. You can also do some bragging right from the game! You can post your scores online and see how other users score in your area and you can post your scores to Twitter and Facebook.

The Bottom Line

This game is fun! Get it here from the App Store:
