Electronic Arts has brought another classic board game back to life. This time it's Battleship. Modern graphics, animation and additional weapon modes make this game more entertaining than ever.
Battleship was a game that I never really got into as a kid. I'm not really sure why, but I just missed out on this one. However, I knew the concept and who could forget the TV commercials that forever ingrained "you sunk my battleship" into our heads?
This game was easy to jump right into and start playing. I won my first 3 games having never played before. The gameplay goes fast and I didn't experience any issues or crashes. I then tried a game with "super weapons" and I must say that was a lot of fun. You don't always have access to a super weapon, which makes it more fun. Also it makes you use them more wisely when they do become available. The more games you win the higher your rank becomes and the move super weapons are unlocked. EA did good with this one and it's hard to go wrong with it.
The Bottom Line
If you enjoyed Battleship as a kid this game will certainly bring back memories. Also being able to choose between the Classic version and versions with more weapons and surprises is definitely a plus. You can get Battleship here from the App Store:

Great game until you try to use the multiplayer feature (both WiFi & Bluetooth)….in that arena EA gets an epic fail! My friends and I have never been able to finish a game without being disconnected and this isn't just my iPhone 3Gs that has this problem. I've attempted to play with friends who have Original iPhone's, iPod Touch's and iPhone 3Gs'. ALL EA GAMES with multiplayer suffer from this problem and most of them DO NOT have auto-save features so you have to completely start the game over from scratch. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!
EA gets a EPIC FAIL when it comes to MULTIPLAYER!
Why would you make a multiplayer game that doesn’t save your game info when it disconnects (which is during just about every game)? I love Battleship, but I can’t play because it’s just too frustrating how often you lose a game during multiplayer. EA, what’s up? Did none of your developers consider this?
