Blackjack 21 is one of my old favorites. When the App Store first opened I tried a few different Blackjack games and settled on Blackjack 21. I liked this one over the others for one simple reason. It was the game play experience. The developer took advantage of the touch interface to simulate as close as possible the experience of sitting at a casino table. You ask for a hit by swiping your finger down. You "stand" by swiping your finger across. You actually place your bets by tapping the chips representing the dollar amount you want to wager and those chips slide out onto the table. You split by swiping up and double-down by double-tapping and if you give up you can surrender by swiping left and right.

It cheats?

If you read any Blackjack game review on the App Store you'll find a common theme. "It favors the house" or "it cheats". I laugh every time I see that because, duh! So does Vegas! In Blackjack 21, you win some, you lose some. I haven't found that it overwhelmingly favors the house and if it does, then they all do and I would then go back to why I like this one in the first place and that is "It's fun to play and has a great user interface."

Lot's of options to have the game play just the way you want it to. As a matter of fact it has an overwhelming number of options so it would be hard to not set it up exactly the way you like to play Blackjack.

If you're looking for a fun way to pass the time that won't break your real bank, then Blackjack 21 is definitely my choice for the BEST Blackjack game I've seen to date.

  1. Terry,
Thanks for the review. I've been looking for a blackjack game so I'll check this one out. There's a little typo in the review "You split by sipping up "
One quick question – beside your battery it shows the %. Is that a feature of the iphone or is there an app for that? I'd like to be able to see that information on my iPod Touch.
