Your iPhone/iPod touch can also be a Police Scanner
Although I never actually owned a police (emergency band) scanner, I've always been intrigued by the thought of hearing he police and emergency dispatch calls in my area. Maybe you see a fire truck or police car roll down your street with sirens blaring. Naturally you're curious as to what's going on?
Police Radio turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a real police scanner
The ingenuity of these app developers never cease to amaze me. Police Scanner taps right into your area's emergency bands over the internet and allows you to listen in. You can choose your area or any area covered by the app for that matter. So if you're watching a Live Report on the news and you want to be tapped in to what's going on in that area, go ahead and turn right in.
You pick your feed by state and then city.

You can even bookmark your favorite feeds for quick access

Tap the one you want and just listen.
Pretty amazing app. Well worth the download.
Police Radio
Police Radio taps into local emergency bands and lets you hear the actual LIVE police dispatch traffic.

Is this just the public channels the police use? Will dispatch have any private channels? crooks n bad guys could use this to evade law, & victimize the weak. Not sure if this is a good thing. -krazykat
My guess is public channels. Shoot the developer an email.
Hey Terry,
What did you actually like that made you pick this particular Police scanner to review over the more popular "Scanner 911" that's also on itunes?
No other reason than it was the first one I tried, does everything that I want and I like the user interface.
